Premier Daniel Andrews posts 'proud' dad moment on social media

Amid a gruelling stream of daily briefings, Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews has posted a heartfelt social media message to his son for his 18th birthday.

"You only turn 18 once," Mr Andrews wrote last night, alongside a picture of the premier wrapping an arm around his son Noah's shoulder.

"Couldn't be more proud."

Noah, who is sitting his VCE this year, is the eldest of the three Andrews children.

Earlier this month Mr Andrews posted a photo of himself with Noah on Instagram, outlining the challenges Year 12 students in Victoria are facing.

"Growing up is hard enough – but the stresses and strains of 2020 are something else," he wrote.

"I know this (year) hasn't been easy," he continued.

"My son Noah is studying hard for his upcoming SACs.

"It's hard on teachers, hard on kids, and it's hard on parents."

Victoria's death toll now sits at 309.

The state of emergency has been extended to September 13.
