Father and farmer identified as second Victorian flood victim

The second man to die in Victorian floodwaters has been identified as 65-year-old Bryan Hack.

The father, mechanic and horse breeder was found dead on Paynes Road in Nathalia by one of his family members at around 8.45am.

Nathalia has a population of about 2000 and is located north-west of Shepparton in Victoria, which has been impacted by substantial flooding.

Second flood-related death

The 65-year-old was found after authorities conducted a search overnight after it was noticed he did not return home about 10pm.

A tractor he was working on yesterday was then found unoccupied in the floodwaters late last night.

The exact circumstances surrounding his death are yet to be determined, but police said the death was not being treated as suspicious.

"We send our deepest condolences to his family, our thoughts and prayers are with him and all in that community," Premier Daniel Andrews said today.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

The man's death follows that of 71-year-old Kevin Wills, who was found dead in his Rochester backyard last Saturday.

Police said his wife was there as the flood hit their High Street property at around 9.30am.

She became trapped but was rescued by emergency services and taken to a nearby relief centre.

Widespread flooding continues

The SES is warning the town of Kerang will likely be cut off from the rest of Victoria tonight.

Residents are now forced to make the decision whether to leave or stay.

"We are expecting that this afternoon there will be an evacuation message for the Kerang community alerting people if they choose to stay, you will be isolated for at least seven, if not more, days," SES Chief Officer Operations Tim Wiebusch said.

He said the highway in and out of the town would be closed tonight.

"People need to heed that warning and make their decisions now about moving," Wiebusch said.

"We aren't expecting to see inundation in and around the Kerang township behind the levee at this point in time, but outside the levee, we are expecting there's around 50 to 60 properties that could become inundated as a result of the flooding along the Loddon River."

As of 5.30am AEDT, Victoria has more than 50 flood warnings in place, stretching from north of Melbourne to the NSW border.

Evacuation orders are current for Echuca and Echuca Village, Barmah and Lower Moira, as well as Bunbartha, Zeerust, Mundoona and Kaarimba.

There have been 22 flood rescues statewide over the past 24 hours.
