Victorian Police hunt dashcam footage after brutal hit and run

Police are urgently hunting down dashcam footage after a 72-year-old man was the victim of a serious hit and run in Melbourne on Thursday.

Dramatic footage from a nearby business shows the man leaving a local club in Rowville around 7:30pm on March 25.

He left the main entrance to the club and was about three quarters of the way across the road when he was struck by the car.

The impact left the 72-year-old with serious lower body injuries, however the driver did not stop.

Detectives believe the vehicle involved may have been a dark-coloured SUV, possibly a Land Rover Discovery.

One of the car's side view mirrors was torn off and left on the road following the collision.

Police have released CCTV footage of the hit-run and are keen to speak to a witness on the opposite side of the road wearing high visibility clothing who left the scene before police arrived.

Investigators also wish to speak to the driver of a white dual cab utility, possibly a Mitsubishi Triton, that was spotted travelling behind the offending vehicle.
