Family on walk find $35k gold nugget

An Aussie family on a Mother’s Day walk found a gold nugget they believe is worth more than $35,000.

The father and his two daughters and dog, Lucky, were out in Bendigo, Victoria, when they spotted the nugget - but remain tight-lipped on exactly where.

The family took their find to an IGA supermarket to see how much it weighed - and were told it tipped the scales at 634g.

The man said his daughter found it.

‘‘I actually walked right past it but my daughter pretty much kicked it as she was walking,” the man told the Bendigo Advertiser.

“She then goes – 'dad, is this gold?'. I said; 'I think it might be'.’’

They will sell the nugget, and said it will help with current “tough times” they’re going through.

They also plan to return to the secret spot to look for more.
