Vic tow truck chase ends with man shot
A man has been shot by police after allegedly leading officers on a chase through suburban Melbourne in a stolen tow truck.
Police began following the truck in South Morang about 4pm on Monday, and soon saw it driving erratically and running red lights.
The chase ended at Sunshine when the vehicle crashed into a tree.
The man, who is yet to be formally identified, was shot as officers arrested him.
He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital in a serious condition.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman confirmed someone was taken to hospital from Sunshine at the time with suspected upper body injuries.
No one else was hurt.
As an officer discharged their gun, the Victoria Police Professional Standards Command will oversee the ongoing investigation into the incident.
