Vic taxi protest to blockade Bolte Bridge

Angry cabbies plan to blockade a Melbourne bridge next week as tensions over Uber reach boiling point.

The taxis plan to block the Bolte Bridge - a major route to the airport - with hundreds of cabs on Monday morning in response to the Andrews government's taxi deregulation reforms.

Victorian Taxi and Hire Car Families is urging cabbies to amass at two locations before they cause gridlock on the bridge at 8am.

"Lets cause some disruption," the group wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.

The gridlock is expected to last half an hour before all the cabs head to parliament house.
