A Victorian plumbing business is accused of ripping off a young worker almost $27,000 in three months.

The Fair Work Ombudsman is taking Pulis Plumbing to the Federal Court alleging a 20-year-old labourer was underpaid $26,882 for work in Melbourne, Geelong and Bendigo between September and December 2014.

It's alleged the labourer was paid an apprentice rate of $12.18 an hour for a 40-hour week when he was entitled to $37.08 for ordinary hours and up to $74.16 per hour for overtime.
