Gunman on run in Vic arrested

A man who went on the run after allegedly firing shots at a property and threatening police with a gun in country Victoria has been arrested.

The Callignee man, 43, was arrested on a street in Callignee South at about 10am on Tuesday following an eight-hour search, police say.

The man is accused of driving at police and threatening them with a gun after they went to investigate reports of shots being fired at a Callignee property at about 2am.

The man then drove off, sparking the search that also involved Victoria Police's tactical unit, the Special Operations Group.

An 18-year-old man who was with the suspected gunman when he was picked up by police has also been arrested.

Callignee is south of Traralgon in Victoria's Gippsland region.
