Vic man charged with imprisoning child

A man charged with loitering at a playground and imprisoning a boy is a convicted sex offender.

The 75-year-old allegedly approached a 14-year-old boy at a Pakenham park southeast of Melbourne and grabbed at him as he played with his sister in a sandpit on Sunday.

The children fled to their parents and police arrested a suspect at the park hours later.

The man, from Dandenong, is charged with imprisoning and detaining the boy against his will, child stealing and loitering at a park frequented by children as a convicted sex offender.

He was remanded in custody at Dandenong Magistrates Court on Monday.

He will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday.
