Vic jail smoke ban the right decision: Guy

It was right to ban smoking in Victorian jails, the opposition says of the decision made when the coalition was in government.

Opposition leader Matthew Guy was asked whether the July 1 ban was the right move after it triggered a major riot at the Metropolitan Remand Centre.

"Sure was ... but I can't understand why it takes 10 months and the implementation is stuffed up," he told 3AW on Thursday.
