Contact lenses intended for costume use have been recalled as they could cause eye infections.

Sold by Chinese firm SHEIN, the packaging of the lenses “may be contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia complex bacteria, the ACCC says.

The contact lenses affected are white and if used could cause “irritation or serious eye infection” it says.

An incident has been reported overseas it says.

They were sold from 7 August 2024 and 15 August 2026 and carry the number SKU sb2408056243278800.

They should not be used.
