Man allegedly shot at greyhound inspectors

A man accused of shooting at greyhound racing inspectors on a Victorian property has told police he was aiming for a fox.

The Greyhound Racing Victoria inspectors were approaching a property at Sale on Tuesday, when shots were allegedly fired in their direction and a person attempted to assault them.

GRV chairman Bernie Carolan described the incident as outrageous.

"If these allegations are proven to be correct then this is another example of the kind of behaviour that is not welcome in the Victorian greyhound racing industry," he said in a statement.

Police say no evidence has been found at the scene, and the man has told them he was targeting a fox.
