Vic grants to target crime hotspots

Victoria's crime hotspots will be targeted under a $5.8 million program to set up CCTV and improve safety.
Police Minister Wade Noonan says the money is available for councils to prevent crime in public places and projects addressing vulnerable and disadvantaged groups.
"We need to tackle the root causes of crime - including family violence, ice, disengagement and economic hardship - and that includes providing a good education, a flourishing TAFE system and the right housing," Mr Noonan said.
