Vic fire causes $50,000 damage bill

A fire at a property in Melbourne's north has caused an estimated $50,000 worth of damage.

Fire crews were called to a house in Reservoir on Thursday night to find a large shed at the back of the property well alight.

The fire threatened to spread to adjoining houses and a community warning was issued because of the volume of smoke, the Metropolitan Fire Brigade says.

There were no reports of injuries.

It's not yet known what caused the fire.
