Vic driver loses high-speed BMW

A Melbourne motorist who bought his BMW only two days ago has lost his new pride and joy for 30 days after police allegedly clocked him driving at almost twice the speed limit.

Police say they detected the man's 2008 BMW doing 156km/h in an 80km/h zone on the Princes Highway at Werribee just after 8pm on Thursday.

The 31-year-old man is expected to be charged on summons for excessive speed and his car was impounded on the spot.
