Two teenage girls have been charged over the stabbing a young woman at a major Melbourne train station.

A 14-year-old girl from Tarneit and 16-year-old girl from Deer Park have been charged with offences including assault and intentionally causing injury, Victoria Police said on Tuesday.

The pair have been bailed to appear at the Children's Court at a later date for allegedly slashing a 21-year-old victim with a knife at Southern Cross Station on Saturday.
