A man is in a critical condition following a bashing at a shopping strip in Melbourne’s west.
It’s the alleged violence on the Sunshine street, and happened just metres from where a local grocer was fatally attacked two months ago.

The man was blindsided by a barrage of punches and kicks and left unconscious in the brutal ambush.
The 27-year-old was simply standing at the lights when he was set upon by a man and two women who jumped out of a white car and knocked him out police say.
He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
“I was extremely sad and I just think [it’s] very highly distressing for our community,” Virginia Tachos, Mayor for the City of Brimbank, said.

Since the death of grocer Van Viet Truong, police have ramped up patrols along the strip.
While many traders welcome the increased police presence, they say a lot more needs to be done to deter the anti-social behaviour.
“Whilst it’s really important to have police, we really need preventative measures that are sustainable,” Tachos said.
The victim is now in a stable condition, and police are hunting the attacker.
