Son of slain Vic woman still in custody

The son of an elderly Melbourne woman found dead in her home remains in police custody as detectives continue their investigations into her killing.

One of Violet Tamvakis' daughters found her body in a front room of her Bentleigh home on Tuesday afternoon, the victim of a violent assault.

Investigators identified her son, Socrates Tamvakis, 44, as a person of interest soon after Ms Tamvakis' body was found and he has been in custody since his arrest on Wednesday.
