Samuel Johnson's Logie stolen from Melbourne pub

When Aussie actor Samuel Johnson’s Silver Logie was stolen from a Melbourne pub where it was being kept to raise money for charity, the bar’s owner thought it was a joke.

The Brunswick Hotel had the Logie on display to raise money for Johnson and sister Connie’s charity “Love Your Sister”.

Johnson and his sister have been working tirelessly to raise funds for breast cancer after Connie was diagnosed with the disease.

Police said the thieves threw the statue into bushes at a nearby golf course.

The two men were arrested but Johnson did not want to pursue charges against them.

“He [the Logie] was at the bar one minute, next minute he was gone. We made a few phone calls and he turned up at the police station safe and sound,” pub owner Richard Kruk told 9NEWS of the theft.

“You always think it’s a joke and so many people have come in and tried to take photos and did the whole ‘I’m going to take off with it’, and I think at the time the bar staff thought it was a joke as well.”

The Logie later showed up at a local police station where Mr Kruk picked it up this afternoon.

“Sam is a good mate of mine and I’ve known him for a few years and it’s helping to raise funds for his lovely sister.”

“It’s doing a fantastic job, people are taking selfies with the Logie and Molly’s hat.”

One of Molly Meldrum’s famous hats is also on display at the pub.

The Logie will now be protected by “higher security”.

“It’s back and it’s safe and sound. I’ll give it a polish tonight and put it back behind the bar.”
