Recommendations over Vic mother death

CORONER PETER WHITE'S RECOMMENDATIONS OVER PRIVATELY CONTRACTED HOME BIRTH MIDWIVES:

* State health department and AHPRA should develop specific framework and consider whether it should be an offence for unregistered midwives to be paid for attending home births.

* Department of Health should conduct a public education campaign, and ensure there is mandatory ongoing training for registered midwives who engage in home births.

* The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia should define and monitor mandatory clinical competency and experience standards.
