Police yet to identify Vic body

Police are sorting through missing persons reports in the hope it will help them identify the body of a man found in a disused mineshaft in northern Victoria.

Emergency services were called to the mineshaft at 2.40pm on Saturday after prospectors located the body in Whroo.

The body was retrieved on Sunday night and a post mortem will be conducted.

He is yet to be identified.

The cause of death is yet to be determined but police are treating the circumstances as suspicious.
