Additional uniformed police officers will continue to patrol the MCG as the Boxing Day Test resumes.

Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton said officers will work with private security for every day of the Australia v Pakistan Test to give the community confidence.

It follows a series of raids last week in Melbourne where police charged four men aged in their 20s with planning a Christmas Day attack in the CBD.

"We're making sure there's a strong visibility and the community can have a great deal of confidence that security is in place and working well," Mr Ashton said on Monday.

Crowds weren't deterred from attending the first day of the Test on Monday, with 63,478 people packing the MCG.

Victoria Police will continue to increase their presence at all major events during the festive season, but say there's nothing to suggest there is any heightened threat.
