Pair held after shot fired at Vic cops

Two people are in hospital under police guard after officers were fired at in Melbourne.

Suspected thieves allegedly fired a single shot at a police car in the early hours of Thursday morning following a short pursuit of a stolen ute.

Two women and a man were arrested by special operations and armed crime squad detectives in Werribee on Thursday night.

A 23-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman are under police guard in hospital and yet to be interviewed.

A 21-year-old woman has been charged on unrelated matters and released on bail.
