Nine teenagers have been charged over a violent home invasion in Melbourne's west.

Nine of the teens, all boys, were charged on Thursday.

Four of them were remanded in custody to appear in court and four girls were released pending further inquiries.

The charges range from aggravated robbery, robbery, attempted armed robbery, recklessly cause injury and theft of motor vehicle.

Victoria Police has escalated its response to aggravated burglaries and carjackings across the state.

"Day and night patrols are being conducted at high risk locations to prevent offences taking place," police spokeswoman Amelia Penhall said.

Since cracking down on similar crimes police have made more than 75 arrests.
