Fatal alleged Vic road rage has 2 in court

A man accused of murdering a motorist in an alleged Melbourne road rage incident has lashed out wildly in court.

Sunshine West man Christopher Orfanidis, 31, is accused of killing Phi Long Ung at Ardeer early in July.

He appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday where a murder charge was added to the case after Mr Ung, 37, died in hospital this week.

Orfanidis waved and blew a kiss to supporters as he entered the dock and told them "I love you" as he left to return to custody.

Then he punched out wildly while security staff led him away.

Prosecutor Jonathan Manning asked for extra time as investigators had lots of evidence to consider.

The collision would need to be reconstructed and a number of alleged crime scenes analysed, he said.

Significant vehicle debris, CCTV footage and phone records would also be examined.

"In addition to an outstanding offender, with investigations ongoing," Mr Manning said.

Court documents allege Orfanidis intentionally drove into the rear of Mr Ung's car.

A co-accused, 39-year-old Bill Panagiotidis from Maribyrnong, allegedly helped conceal the location of Orfanidis' car, between July 5 and July 8.

He also appeared on Wednesday, charged with being an accessory to an indictable offence and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

His barrister Damien Hannan said police wouldn't need as much time to prepare material in Panagiotidis' case, because the alleged offences occurred after the fact.

"Our involvement is alleged to have taken place after the collision, after the assault," he said.

The court heard it was Panagiotidis' first time in custody, and he required medical treatment for asthma.

Both matters will return to court on November 25.
