More witnesses for fatal boxing shooting

More than two months after a man was shot dead outside a Melbourne boxing event, police are still trawling through CCTV footage and identifying witnesses.

Abdullah El Nasher, 28, is accused of fatally shooting father Ben Togiai at Kensington on March 1.

Co-accused Mikhael Myko, 25, faces an attempted murder charge and other offences including recklessly causing injury and firing a handgun in a crowded area.

Mr Togiai, 30, died and two other men were injured in the attack.

"It involves offending that strikes at the very heart of the community's wellbeing," magistrate Simon Zebrowski said of the alleged crimes.

Police were still identifying witnesses in the case who are yet to be spoken to, with officers processing large amounts of CCTV footage, Melbourne Magistrates Court was told on Thursday.

El Nasher and Myko appeared in court via videolink for the brief hearing.

They are due back in court in September.
