Another five Victorians have been suspended over the use of live animals to train greyhounds.

Greyhound Racing Victoria has suspended the registrations of another five people connected to the Tooradin Trial Track, adding to the 10 trainers already stood down over allegations live baiting was used at the facility.

It follows a review of video footage taken by animal activists.

The latest five have not been named but the already suspended trainers and handlers include GRV's former integrity and racing operations manager Bob Smith, former GRV steward Paul Anderton and two-time Australian greyhound trainer of the year Darren McDonald.

Peak body Greyhounds Australasia is reviewing rules covering all types of bait used in training greyhounds, including dead gutted bait, amid investigations into the illegal practice of live baiting by some trainers in Victoria, NSW and Queensland.

GRV on Thursday said its board has decided that only artificial material can be used as a lure to train a greyhound, effective immediately.

Victorian authorities have stopped greyhounds trained or owned by the suspended trainers from racing while the allegations are investigated.
