Delays are also easing on Alamein, Belgrave, and Glen Waverley lines, with passengers advised that services will be departing from alternative platforms at Flinders Street Station.

Alternative transport is recommended.

Large queues were earlier captured at peak hour at  Southern Cross Station in the city, while on Bourke Street dozens of people were spotted trying to catch a tram as an alternative.

Metro Trains has said they are investigating the faults, and have apologised for the inconvenience caused to commuters.
