Man in 70s dies in Vic road crash

A man has died and his female is passenger critically injured following a road crash in Victoria's south.

The 79-year-old driver died and the woman in her 70s was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital following the collision at Bannockburn about 4.30pm on Wednesday.

A man, woman and small child in the other car involved were taken to a Geelong hospital with minor injuries.

Victoria's road toll now stands at 70, compared to 80 for the same period last year.
