Man hospitalised after fire destroys unit

A man has been hospitalised and several units will be without power for days after fire engulfed a Melbourne unit.

It was one of two blazes on Friday morning, with fire crews also arriving to find the front room and kitchen of a Dallas weatherboard house fully alight.

They are treating the blaze as suspicious.

A Glenry unit was also destroyed when a candle caused household chemicals to ignite.

The occupant was taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation and nine other units in the block will be without power for several days, the MFB says.
