Man dies after Melbourne scooter crash

A man has died nearly a week after crashing his scooter on a street northwest of Melbourne.

The 43-year-old man was travelling on Pin Oak Crescent in Flemington, about lunch time on Friday, when he lost control of his scooter and crashed.

The Flemington man was taken to The Alfred Hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died, police said.

His death brings the state's road toll to 44, compared to 41 for the same time last year.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
