Victorian police said that two food delivery drivers saw an unknown man “tampering with their bikes” before confronting him, sparking an altercation between all three.

Responding officers attempted CPR, but one of the drivers, who is yet to be identified, was declared dead about 10 minutes after the confrontation.

Moments later, the second food delivery driver, 34, was found in a neighbouring street with a suspected non-life-threatening stab wound.

On Saturday morning, a 51-year-old man from Footscray was arrested in the suburb.

He remains in custody as police continue to probe the incident, stating that they are not looking for anyone else involved in the alleged stabbing.

Following the alleged attack, food delivery service HungryPanda said they have established a team to urgently identify the driver.

“Once confirmed, we will do everything possible to provide full support and assistance to his family.”
