Man charged after woman hit by car in Melb

A man has been charged over a crash in which an elderly woman was struck and critically injured by what police say was a stolen car.

Alan McDevitt, 29, of Glenroy, was charged with negligently causing serious injury, driving in a dangerous manner causing serious injury and theft of a motor car.

He was arrested at the Hadfield crash scene on Sunday night.

A 74-year-old Hadfield woman remains in the Royal Melbourne Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A bail justice on Monday night remanded McDevitt in custody to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
