Man arrested over historical sex assaults

A man has been arrested over a series of historic sexual assaults in Melbourne more than 30 years ago.

A 59-year-old from Mooroolbark was arrested on Tuesday and is being interviewed over incidents involving underage girls in Mooroolbark in September 1982 at a home on Croydondale Drive, and in a park near Croydondale Road and Ellen Road.

Police say he is also being questioned about a sexual assault involving a woman in her 20s in Lilydale in 1990 and 1991.
