The family of a teenager killed in a fiery crash in Melbourne’s south-east say they are “struggling to come to terms” with the sudden loss in a heartbreaking tribute.

Dominic Omir Sabata, 19, died after the BMW he was travelling in hit an electrical pole, causing it to split in two and burst into flames on Cheltenham Road in Keysborough about 12.50am on Wednesday.

He was found dead inside the car after emergency services extinguished the flames.

Two other men, aged 21 and 24, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police were told the car was travelling “at speed” before the horror crash.

The BMW was believed to be a rental car.

The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.

Sabata’s grieving family reflected on the “unimaginable loss” as they paid tribute to the Clyde North teenager in an online fundraiser.

“No family is ever prepared to lose someone so young, and no words can truly express the heartbreak of losing a brother, son, and loved one with so much life still ahead of him,” the family said.

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out, offered their support and shown our family kindness during this heartbreaking time.”

The family’s fundraiser had reached close to $10,000 at the time of writing.
