Hazelwood, Herbert up in Vic Parliament

Victoria's government is set to face questions over the upcoming closure of the Hazelwood coal-fired power station and mine when parliament sits on Tuesday.

Labor will also be grilled over Corrections Minister Steve Herbert, who used his taxpayer-funded car to chauffeur his dogs around the state while he was at work.

Hazelwood will close in March 2017 after the French owners Engie said it was "no longer economic to operate" it.

Federal Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg said the state government had tripled coal royalties, costing Engie $20 million.
