Four men arrested after fatal Vic shooting

Four men have been arrested after a man was fatally shot at a Melbourne apartment.

The 44-year-old man was found with critical injuries inside an Oakleigh East property before 5.30am on Saturday but died in hospital.

Media reports named father-of-five, Duane Hutchings, as the man killed in the apartment.

"My brother didn't deserve to die like that. No one does," Liam Hutchings told the Nine Network on Sunday.

Heavily armed police including members of the special operations group and other commands raided properties at Doncaster and Park Orchards to make the arrests.

Three men from Doncaster, aged 18, 22 and 56 along with a 24-year-old man from Park Orchards were arrested on Sunday afternoon by homicide squad detectives.

Investigators have been told the dead man was at the apartment when an "altercation" occurred between a group before the shooting, police said.

The four men were being interviewed by police.

Witnesses or anyone with knowledge "no matter how insignificant it might seem" have been urged to contact police.
