Police have confirmed they are investigating an accusation of sexual assault against Australian rules legend Gary Ablett Snr.

A 55-year-old mother-of-four has alleged the assault occurred while the pair was waiting outside a friend’s home in Warragul, Victoria.

She is expected to visit the location with police to re-enact the alleged incident.

Victoria Police have confirmed they are investigating but refused to comment further.

The 55-year-old woman told the Herald Sun she was prompted to report the alleged offence out of a desire to find closure.

“Every time I see (Ablett Snr), I lose the plot,” she told the newspaper.

“It has come to a head and I have had enough.”

It is believed she will carry out a re-enactment of the alleged incident.

Ablett Snr, 56, nicknamed “God” for his on-the-field achievements, was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame in 2005. He is a three time Coleman Medal winner and Norm Smith medallist.

In 2002, Ablett Snr was convicted of four drug offences and fined $1500 after providing drugs to 19-year-old Geelong woman, Alisha Horan.

Ms Horan died in Mr Ablett’s hotel room as a result of a drug overdose.
