Five people have been arrested and more than $2 million worth of heroin seized following police raids in Melbourne.

Police executed search warrants at three homes in Richmond about 12pm (AEST) on Monday as part of a three-week operation into drug trafficking.

Officers seized a large haul of heroin with an estimated street value of more than $2 million, along with a quantity of prescription drugs, cash and allegedly stolen goods, police said.

A 42-year-old Richmond woman was arrested and charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of heroin and trafficking ice. She was remanded in custody to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Police also arrested a 38-year-old woman, two 38-year-old men, and a 36-year-old man, all from Richmond. They were all charged with drug offences and bailed by police to appear in court at a later date.
