A $25 million refurbishment of the Ballarat station precinct will help secure the regional town's economic future, Victoria's premier says.
A four-star hotel and convention centre will form a major part of the redevelopment.
Premier Daniel Andrews says the upgrade will boost the town's tourism and jobs opportunities, with the facilities set to generate up to $38 million in private sector investment.

"The services economy, the visitor economy is a very big part of the Ballarat economy's future," Mr Andrews told reporters on Friday.
He says Regional Development Victoria will immediately start work on the precinct, but hasn't flagged a date for construction to begin.
