Fair Work seeks order against Melb boss

A Melbourne man has again been accused of ripping off his employees, but this time authorities are seeking to slap him with a court order to stop him doing it again.

Kam Man Yau and his company Phone Collection Pty Ltd allegedly underpaid a worker at a shopping centre in Frankston more than $4000 and didn't pay enough superannuation or leave back in 2014.

The Fair Work Ombudsman investigated the employee's complaint and Yau's company paid the worker back in full.

But this isn't the first time he's been accused of short-changing workers, the ombudsman said on Wednesday.

The Fair Work Ombudsman is now seeking an injunction to prevent Yau from underpaying anyone else.

The independent watchdog has also started legal action against Yau, who faces penalties up to $51,000 for contravening minimum wage entitlements.

He is due to face the Federal Circuit Court in Melbourne at a later date.
