Ex-AFL player jailed over shootings

Former AFL player Billy Nicholls has been sentenced to 11 years in jail for shooting two men.

Nicholls, 34, shot Khalib Alloush and Scott Shepherd in the legs during separate incidents at Geelong in June 2012 and January 2013.

Last month he was found guilty of two counts of intentionally causing serious injury.

On Monday he was sentenced to 11 years in prison with a non-parole period of eight years in Geelong's County Court.

The Corio man played 16 games for Hawthorn and Richmond between 2001 and 2004.
