A motorcyclist is fighting for life and a driver on the run in a stolen Toyota after a crash in Melbourne.

The vehicles crashed at the intersection of Glenburnie Road and Orient Avenue in Mitcham, about 4.15pm on Wednesday.

The BMW drove away and has since been found on the East Link near George Street in Scoresby.

Police believe the people in the car then burgled a home in Haideh Place, Scoresby, and stole a white Toyota sedan.

It is the second hit-and-run involving a BMW in Melbourne this week.

A 13-year-old girl is in an induced coma at the Royal Children's Hospital after she was hit by a grey BMW in Coburg on Sunday.

Police are hunting for a woman aged in her early 30s, of Asian appearance with shoulder-length dark hair after they found a grey BMW in a laneway in Braybrook on Tuesday.
