A driver has died after a car crashed into a pole at a racetrack in Melbourne’s north-west, with police investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Emergency services were called to the Calder Freeway racetrack at Calder Park about 10.05am today following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the car, died at the scene.
Nine.com.au understands the person has not yet been formally identified.
Victoria Police said the vehicle crashed into a pole at the racetrack, about 23 kilometres north-west of Melbourne’s CBD.
Investigators are working to determine exactly what led to the crash.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
WorkSafe has also been notified and is expected to make inquiries as part of the investigation.
