Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews nominated for leadership award
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has been nominated for a prestigious leadership award for his work steering Victoria through a difficult 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic and a deadly second wave.
Mr Andrews is one of a handful of political names to be in the running for the 2020 McKinnon Political Leader of the Year prize.
Other nominees include Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, Health Minster Greg Hunt, Indigenous Australians Minister Ken Wyatt, NSW Environment Minister Matt Kean and ACT Opposition Leader Elizabeth Lee.

The nomination of the Victorian premier comes ahead of his counterparts in Western Australia, South Australia and New South Wales who managed to keep their state's largely COVID-free.
Mr Andrews was today dismissive of the accolade.
"We should give awards to people who stacked shelves in supermarkets last year, or nurses, or SkyBus drivers ... the people of Victoria are my only concern and getting us past midnight tomorrow night with the best set of rules," he said.

New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp won the award in 2019.
The Andrews government has come under fire in recent days after announcing a snap "circuit-breaker" lockdown across Victoria in a bid to combat a cluster out of the Holiday Inn quarantine hotel.
The premier today flagged the stage four restrictions would roll back at 11.59pm tomorrow as planned.
