Peter Duss, 79, was found dead at the scene.

A 57-year-old Croydon man was arrested at the scene and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries to his upper body, where he remained under police guard.

The man has now been charged with one count of murder.

He will appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Police say the men are known to each other.

Homicide squad detectives are now investigating if tension over an alleged affair is what led to the violence.

It’s understood Duss had lived at the home in Croydon with his wife for close to 40 years.
