It's official. Victoria's five-day "circuit breaker" lockdown will end at midnight tonight after the state recorded zero new cases today on the back of a record number of cases.

From 12am tomorrow, Victorians will be able to move freely outside their own home without needing a reason to be out.

However some restrictions do remain. Here's what we know so far.

Can I leave my house?

You can.

The previous four reasons given to leave your home – such as essential work and care-giving – will be scrapped from midnight.

What about exercise and shopping? Can I travel further than five kilometres from my house?

You can.

From midnight, there will be no restrictions on how far you can travel to exercise or shop.

What about masks? Do I need to wear a mask every time I leave the house?

You may have to.

The remaining restrictions for masks is to wear one indoors and outdoors where social and physical distancing cannot be adhered to.

There's obviously a wide scope to this restriction, but commonsense tells us to keep wearing masks at shopping centres, on public transport and in large crowds.

Can I have people over at my house?

Yes, but restrictions still remain. From midnight tonight until Friday next week, you can only have five visitors at your home.

The reason for the date of Friday next week (February 26) is that it marks the end of the 14-day incubation period of the virus.

What about at the local park?

Up to 20 people can gather in public. This may be different families, household members, or friends.

Will schools be open again?

They will. From Thursday all Victorian schools, universities and TAFE will be allowed to open again to all students.

Whether they do is to a case-by-case basis – it's best to check with your child's individual school if they will attend for the final two days of the week.

What about funerals and weddings?

Specifically, funerals and weddings have no specific cap on numbers at those events.

But – and it's a potentially large but – the size of these functions and the number of people allowed be dependent on the density limits of the venue where they are held.

So it depends on the amount of floor space your venue has.

What about the tennis? Are crowds allowed back in at the Australian Open?

They will be.

Daniel Andrews said entertainment and density quotas will be in place to ensure crowd numbers are small.

There is no specific number so far on how many fans will be allowed into centre court at the Open.

What about the shops? Can I go to Kmart or Bunnings?

You can.

From midnight tonight (for shops that trade that late) all retail and hospitality will reopen with the same density limits that were in place last week.

Will the office be open? Can I go back to work?

Maybe.

Offices will be open and workers are invited back to work.

However for those in high-density workplaces, a 50 per cent capacity remains. Another case where it's best to check with your employer.
