Charges over car assault on elderly man

An 86-year-old Victorian man who was being assaulted in a car waved his walking stick out the window to try and gain attention.

On Thursday, a 55-year-old Morwell man was arrested and charged over the alleged assault, which occurred in a vehicle at Dandenong on November 23.

Police say the elderly victim waved his walking stick out the window to draw attention and was aided by a passing driver, who stopped the assault.

The accused is charged with numerous assault-related offences and will appear in Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court at a later date.
