Four thugs have carjacked a pregnant woman near Geelong after leading police on a chase in another stolen car.

The 30-year-old woman, who is 31 weeks pregnant, pulled to the side of the Bellarine Highway on Wednesday night as a stolen car drove towards her on the wrong side of the road.

Rather than continue past the woman, the four men stopped the Volkswagen they were in and then forced her from her Nissan, police said on Thursday.

She was not injured, police say.

The four men had allegedly stolen the Volkswagen 45 minutes earlier after a home invasion in Queenscliff.

The 72-year-old resident, who was home at the time, was not injured.

They led numerous police cars on a chase through streets on the Bellarine Peninsula before driving over tyre spikes set down in Marcus Hill.

Police say they terminated the pursuit after the damaged car crossed onto the wrong side of the road.

The woman's Nissan SUV was later found burnt out on a country road north of Geelong.

Police have linked the four men to the thefts of another two cars on Tuesday and Wednesday.
