Police car rammed in Melb boot burglary

A police car has been rammed by two burglars who used power tools to steal 80 pairs of footy boots from a Melbourne sports store.

CCTV released on Thursday shows a man and a woman using a hand-held power saw to break the locks on a shipping container behind a sports apparel shop in Clayton on July 10.

The quick-thinking shop owner received an alarm notification shortly before 9pm and immediately called triple zero, with police spotting a ute fleeing the scene.

The suspected stolen early 90s Nissan Patrol was followed by officers until it reversed into their van and sped away.

The officers were not physically injured in the crash, while the burglars and their booty are yet to be located.
